Tiger Baseball and Softball Weekly Round Up

The regular season has wound down and tournament play has begun for both teams. But we still have a few games to report.
The Tiger softball team hosted Mt. Pleasant on July 1. Although they lost the contest 11-8, the girls put up a good fight. There were no individual stats available for the Tigers.
The baseball team hosted Notre Dame on July 1. They faced a tough Nike team, losing 15-4. The Tigers scored all their runs in the 5th inning.
Getting hits were Memphis Watson, Sully Barron, and Riley Raines. Tate Welcher and Sully Barron each had an RBI. Michael Raines was on the mound for the Tigers.
On July 2, the Tigers hosted the WMU Wolves. They notched the win, 6-3. The Tigers scored their six runs on seven hits. Getting hits were Memphis Watson, Gavin Menke-Bailey, Gage Burden, Tate Welcher, and Riley Raines. Michael Raines hit a single and a double adding two RBIs. Burden also contributed two RBIs.
Menke-Bailey went the distance getting the win for the Tigers.
The girls’ game against WMU on July 2 was canceled.
Om Saturday, July 6, the Tigers traveled to Keota to play Pekin in the 1A substate 6 first round game. The Tigers won 3-0, doing all their scoring in the second inning. Getting hits were Memphis Watson with a double and two RBIs, Gavin Menke Bailey added a single and an RBI, Sully Barron had two singles, and Cale Westerbeck had a single. Menke-Bailey got the win.
The Tigers move on to face the 26-3 Notre Dame Nikes on July 9 at 7 p.m. on the Nikes’ home field. We believe! Go Tigers!
The softball team’s first round is July 8 at 7 p.m. at New London as they take on the Danville Bears. Let’s go Tigers!
