The girls golf team traveled to Burlington on Tuesday, April 30 to play in the Grayhound Invitational at Flint Hills Golf Course. When the day was done, the Tigers were victorious. The NL team fired a 351, 11 strokes better than second place Bettendorf.
This was a red letter day for Taylor Phillips. Coming off a less than stellar last week, she shot a 2-under par 69. She was medalist, beating Muscatine’s Rylee Brockhouse by one stroke. Beyond excited. it was the first time Taylor had come in under par in a competitive high school meet. It is a great time to be playing her best, as Regionals start tomorrow (May 10.)
Sophie Malott also had a really good day. She carded a 79 and finished fourth overall. Other scores for the Tigers: Emma Busby had a 96, Stevie Wintermeyer and Katelyn Allen both shot a 105, and Sydney Kracht had a 124.
The girls credit their coaches, Greg Lerdal and Dennis Carter, for their knowledge and teaching of golf. They have left their mark on the long tradition of excellent golf at New London. Congrats Ladies!
