Tiger Softball and Baseball Round Up

The Tiger teams hosted the Pekin Panthers on June 17. The Tiger softball team had a good night getting the victory 14-13. The first three innings saw the ladies score 12 runs. But in the seventh inning, Pekin scored two runs to take a 13-12 advantage. But on this night, the Tigers would not be denied. They, too, scored two for the win. There were no individual stats available.
The baseball team also notched an 8-4 victory. The Tigers had a big fourth inning, scoring four. The team had 12 hits on the night. Gavin Menke-Bailey had two singles and drove in a run. Memphis Watson scored a run after getting hit by a pitch. Brendan Richey had two hits, drove in a run, and scored two. Michael Raines had two hits, two RBIs, and scored a run. Gage Burden had two hits including a double and two RBIs. Tate Welcher hit a single and a double. Cale Wessterbeck rounded out the scoring with one run after hitting a single and a double.
Menke-Bailey pitched 2.2 innings, and Watson pitched 4.2 innings for the win.
On June 18, the Lady Tigers traveled to West Point to take on the Holy Trinity Crusaders. HTC scored six in the fifth inning to seal their 12-2 victory. There were no individual stats available.
On June 18, the Tigers baseball team took on Mt. Pleasant at home. At the end of the fourth, the Tigers were leading 9-7. Then the fifth inning commenced. When it was over, Mt. Pleasant had scored 16 runs to New London’s one. The final score was 23 to 10. It was one of those nights when the Tigers couldn’t stop the bleeding. Gavin Menke-Bailey, Memphis Watson, and Michael Raines each had two hits. Watson added three RBIs. Menke-Bailey took the loss.
June 19 found the Tiger teams at L&M HS. The softball team had a tough evening, losing 11-1. There were no individual stats available.
The boys bounced back from the Mt. Pleasant game and beat L&M 2-1. The Tigers had four hits on the night with Michael Raines, Tate Welcher, Sully Barron, and Owen Nehring all hitting singles with Gage Burden and Riley Raines scoring the two runs. Gavin Menke-Bailey went the distance and got the win for the Tigers.
Only the girls competed on June 20, traveling to Van Buren County, where the Tigers lost 12-0. There were no individual stats available.
The teams closed the week out by hosting WB-ND for the girls and West Burlington for the boys. The softball team had another rough outing, losing 12-0. There were no individual stats available.
The baseball team lost 15-7. Although leading after two innings, 4-3, the Falcons scored six in the third inning and five in the fifth making it a tough road for the Tigers to catch up. For this game, there were no individual stats available.
The ball season is quickly winding down, so get out there and support the Tigers!!!
