Tiger Softball and Baseball Roundup

Softball
The Highland Huskies were the Tigers’ opponent on June 24. Unfortunately the team ran into them on a night they were hitting on all cylinders. The final score was a 17-0 — a Highland victory. Shaylee Brothersen had the Tigers only hit. Megan Lee pitched six innings and took the loss.
On Tuesday, June 25, the Tigers faced the Central Lee Hawks. The teams were tied at the end of the second inning a three runs each. In the third, Central Lee erupted for 13 runs. The final score was 16-3 Central Lee. Getting hits were Shaylee Brothersen and Lillie Gallup. Brothersen also had an RBI. Scoring for the Tigers were Gallup, Maison Nelson, and Natalie Fisher.
Baseball
The boys hosted Highland on June 24 in an exciting match up that went 10 innings. Tied at the end of seven, both teams scored a run in the eighth and were scoreless in the ninth. Highland broke the tie at the top of the tenth inning. The Tigers went scoreless in the tenth, to lose a 13-12 heartbreaker.
Gavin Menke-Bailey had two hits that included a home run. He also drove in three. Cale Westerbeck hit three singles and scored four runs. Others getting two hits were Memphis Watson, Michael Raines, Gage Burden, and Riley Raines. Owen Nehring scored a run after being walked. Menke-Bailey pitched two, Watson pitched six, and Michael Raines pitched two. Watson took the loss.
On June 25, the Tigers and the Central Lee Hawks clashed. The Tigers only scoring was two runs in the fourth inning. The final score was New London 2/Central Lee 9.
The Tigers scored two runs on four hits. The four hits were courtesy of Gavin Menke-Bailey, Owen Nehring, Riley Raines, and Cale Westerbeck.
Menke-Bailey pitched five and took the loss. Nehring pitched one to finish the game.
On June 27, the Tigers faced the Lisbon Lions. The Tigers put seven on the board in the first inning and were leading 11-9 as the game entered the seventh inning. The Tigers scored four, but it proved not to be enough as the Lions scored seven to win 16-15, another heartbreaking loss.
Gage Burden lead the Tigers with four hits, three singles and a double. He also had four RBIs. Gavin Menke-Bailey had three hits, two singles and a double. Memphis Watson had three singles. Michael Raines hit a triple. Tate Welcher hit two singles, and Cale Westerbeck and Sully Barron each hit one.
Nehring pitched five innings and Barron pitched two, suffering the loss.
As the regular season wraps up and tournament play begins, get out to the diamonds and support the Tigers. Good luck teams!!!
