By Gina Anderson
Jan. 18, 2024 12:00 am
The weather had a big impact on the Tiger sports schedule. It started Monday, Jan. 8 and hasn’t let up. The changes are as follows:
– The basketball teams were to play WACO at home on January 8. That game was postponed and rescheduled for Monday, January 22.
– The wrestling meet at WACO on January 13 was rescheduled for Saturday, February 3.
– The basketball games against Central Lee scheduled for January 12 have been moved to January 18 in New London.
But our athletes did get a few events in.
Varsity Wrestling
The Tigers did get their triangular meet in that was hosted by Columbus/W-MU boys.
Col/W-MU won the team competition. Against WACO they won 70-12 and against New London 66-15. WACO defeated the Tigers 52-18. Against WACO, Killian Kelly, Gavin Menke-Bailey, and Michael Raines won their matches by fall. Gage Samo won in a major decision over Kane Forseen. Against Col/W-MU, Menke-Bailey won his match against Kohlby Newsom. Forseen and Raines won their matches by fall.
Varsity Boys Basketball
The boys got in one game on January 11. They traveled to Keosauqua to take on Van Buren County. They won the match easily, 62 - 39. The win brings their record to 3-8. There were no individual stats available.
Varsity Girls Basketball
The girls lost another tough one against Van Buren County. The Warriors led at half time 35 to 20 and the Tigers couldn’t overcome the deficit in the second half. The final score was 60 to 37. There were no individual stats available.
Let’s hope the weather becomes more tolerable and the athletes get their games in this week. Go Tigers!
