Football
The Tigers were supposed to play Highland on Sept. 12, but in a surprise move the Huskies forfeited the game. The reason was due to a lack of numbers. Head coach Cory Quall resigned on Monday leaving the team in further disarray.
The reason given was due to injuries making it a safety issue. The New London team was disappointed, but having a 16-man roster makes the local coaches very aware of the possible problem with limited numbers.
The game won’t be made up with the Tigers getting a win by forfeit. Highland plans to resume the season on Sept. 26 at Danville.
Next up for the Tigers is the home game against Wapello starting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 19. It will also be Ag night. Lots of fun activities are planned. See you there … Go Tigers!
Volleyball
The Tigers hosted Fort Madison on Sept. 8. The Tigers went down in three by scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-13. On offense, Marlianna Woodsmall led the Tiger with three kills with Maison Nelson adding two. Serving had Makenna Jacobsmeier at 100% with four aces. Olivia Romer had two blocks. Nelson and Woodsmall had 11 digs between them.
On Sept. 9, Van Buren County came to town and left with three wins 23-10, 25-13, and 25-7. No individual stats were available.
On Sept. 11, the ladies traveled to Central Lee. The game scores were in Central Lee’s favor 25-5, 25-15, and 25-9. No individual stats were available.
