Tiger Sports Round Up

Football
The Tigers played a good game against Wapello, but a victory just wasn’t in the cards on this fall evening. When the last second ticked off the clock, the Tigers found themselves with a 20-12 loss.
Wapello led at halftime 6-0. But the Tigers put 12 points on the scoreboard in the third taking the lead into the 4th quarter. Wapello scored 8 points in the fourth to take home the victory.
QB London Franklin was 9/24 passing for 47 yards. Israel Lemley had two receptions and a TD. Cale Westerbeck had five punt returns for 85 yards and ran a 79- yard return for the Tigers’ other score.
Defensively, the Tigers were led by London Franklin and Nic Loyd with seven tackles each. Rex Body had four and Carter Adams added three. Logan Franklin, Reed Lindsey, and Brigham Porter each had two. Lemley, Paxton Lindsey, and Taiten Jacobs each had one.
Next up for the Tigers is a matchup against Columbus on Sept. 26. Game time is 7 p.m.
Volleyball
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Tigers hosted Danville. The first game was close with the Bears winning, 25-20. The second and third game was 25-15 and 25-12 with Danville taking the match.
Things didn’t get any easier on Sept. 18 as the Tigers faced the (12-1) Holy Trinity Crusaders on their court. The final was 25-10, 25-5, and 25-1 with an HTC sweep.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, the 7th and 8th grade played Danville. Although the 7th grade lost, they never gave up and had some impressive serving. The 8th grade beat Danville, two games to one. They too had some great serving.
Cross-Country
On Sept. 18, the cross-country teams, both HS and JH, ran in Fort Madison. The results follow:
Boys — finished in 10th place as a team
- Natan Bergman — 20:17 — 50th place
- Zayden Lawrence — 21:43 — 68th place
- Zane Long — 22:19 — 75th place
- Bentley Wright — 23:43 — 87th place
- Elijah Ingwersen — 25:43 — 93rd place
- Jayden Wagner — 29:26 — 101st place
JH Boys
- Bentley McFarland — 16:02 — 30th place
JH Girls
- Lillian Francy — 17:23 — 34th place
- Emma Totemeier — 22:12 — 67th place
On Sept. 16, the cross-country team ran at Oskaloosa. This meet was only high school.
Boys — finished in 10th place as a team

- Zane Long — 21:25 — 66th place
- Eli Hinton — 23:47 — 97th place
- Elijah Ingwersen — 24:21 — 103rd place
