Monday, June 16
The Tigers welcomed Hillcrest Academy to their home field. When the dust had cleared, The Tigers has eked out a victory, 5-4.
The Tigers had 28 at-bats, getting 12 hits.
Senior Memphis Watson went 2-for-3, hitting a single and a triple and scoring two runs. Gavin Menke-Bailey hit two singles, had an RBI, and scored a run.
Kye Reighard went 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. He had an RBI and scored a run. Tate Welcher went 3-for-3, with two singles, a double, and three RBIs. Others getting hits were Gavin Strawhacker and Owen Severson.
The Tigers had three fielding errors, and Watson took home the win.
The softball team had a tough night, losing 11-to-7. The girls scored four in the first, then one in the fourth, and two in the seventh. There were no individual stats available.
Tuesday, June 17
The Tigers traveled to Winfield and notched another victory, beating the Wolves 6-to-4. The team scored in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to keep the Wolves at bay.
As a team, they had 28 at-bats and eight hits. Memphis Watson went one-for-two, hitting a single with an RBI and scoring two runs. Gavin Strawhacker had a triple and three RBIs. Gage Burden scored two runs. Sully Barron and Owen Severson each scored one run. The Tigers as a team had three errors, and Owen Nehring got the win.
Wednesday, June 18
Due to possible bad weather, the game against Lisbon was postponed. It will be made up on June 25 and is scheduled at New London.
Thursday, June 19
The baseball team kept their winning ways going, beating Van Buren County, 14-10. Tied at 10 each at the end of seven innings, the Tigers scored four to VBC’s zero. Memphis Watson provided the senior leadership with six at-bats that generated four hits (two singles and two doubles), four RBIs, and scored three runs. Gavin Strawhacker had a hit, an RBI, and scored two runs. Gavin Menke-Bailey had two hits and three RBIs. Kye Reighard had two hits and three RBIs. Sully Barron three hits and an RBI. Owen Severson and Cale Westerbeck each hit a single.
The Tigers had an uncharacteristic five fielding errors. Memphis got the win.
The ladies had a tough night, losing 11-to-1 to Van Buren County. The Tigers only score came in the second inning. No individual stats were available.
Friday, June 20
The games scheduled were postponed. High School baseball and softball home games have been postponed due to extremely wet field conditions and unsafe playing surfaces. The boys’ game is rescheduled for June 23 against Notre Dame. The girls are rescheduled to play HTC on July 2.
Junior High baseball vs. Holy Trinity in West Point is also postponed to June 25.
