The Tiger Basketball teams hosted the Mt. Pleasant Panthers on Tuesday, January 2. The girls were down 10 points at half time, but they rallied in the third quarter and got as close as 26 to 28. It was their best quarter, with them scoring 13 points. But they went cold in the fourth quarter, only scoring six. The final was 47 to 32.
Olivia Hester led the Tigers with 11 points and three rebounds. Morgan Jones had nine points, five rebounds, and four assists. Mylee Miller added six and grabbed six rebounds. Sophie Malott had three points, three rebounds, and four assists. Megan Lee had two and Shay Wilka added one.
Friday saw the Tigers travel to Burlington to take-on the Notre Dame Nikes. The first quarter was difficult as the Tigers were down by 26. The final score was 83-21. The girls never gave up or quit playing hard. Their tenacity is impressive.

Boys Varsity Basketball
The Tiger boys didn’t fare much better. Mt. Pleasant shot “lights out” leading 20 to 2 before the Tigers could catch their breath. Add a vociferous Panther student section, it made for a long night for the Tigers.
The Tigers never recovered from their first quarter drubbing. They finished the night with an 87-42 loss.
Brendan Richey led the Tigers with 15 points. Brigham Porter added 13 and 10 rebounds for a double-double. London Franklin scored eight, Memphis Watson had four plus seven boards, and Carter Benjamin added two and pulled down five rebounds.
The boys took on the Nikes and were within striking distance at halftime. But as has been the case in several of their games, they go cold in the third. The Nikes were victorious with a final score of 83 to 51.
London Franklin paced the Tigers with 21 points. Brendan Richey added 16. Memphis Watson and Brigham Porter each added six. Carter Benjamin had two points and seven rebounds.
Tiger Wrestling
The wrestlers had two meets last week. On Jan. 4, they participated in a triple dual in Cascade. Few numbers often cost them in team totals. The lost to Durant 30/NL 18; they lost to Cascade 45/NL 24; and to Tipton 52/NL 9.
On Jan. 6, the boys participated in the Gary Curtis Invitational. Michael Raines finished second, and Kane Foreseen and Gage Burden both finished fourth in their respective weight classes in a very competitive 16 team tournament. Gavin Menke-Bailey, Killian Kelly, and Riley Raines all went 1 — 2.
Next up for the Tigers on Jan. 11 at Columbus Junction, the meet starts at 6 p.m. They will be at the WACO Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 13 with a start time of 10 a.m.
