State wrestling
The Tigers sent two wrestlers to the state tournament in Des Moines: Kane Forseen (126) and Gage Burden (138).
Forseen was the 19th seed, and he started day one with a win over #14 Keyin Steeve of Nodaway Valley. Next up was #3 Ryan Bahnson of West Lyon. Bahnson won with a 10-5 decision win putting Kane in the consolation bracket.
Kane started off day 2 with a pin of #20 Kimball Elliot of Lynnville-Sully. But he was eliminated by a technical fall against #11 Owen Becerra of Missouri Valley. Kane finished the season with a 30-7 record. Great sophomore season!!!
Gage Burden said in an interview that he was no longer satisfied with making it to the state tournament which he has done every year of high school. He wanted to finish in the top 8.
He beat #20 Gavin Kishman of MFL MarMac by major decision. His next opponent was #4 Landon Price of GT/RA. Gage got an upset win with an 11-6 decision. In the quarterfinals, he lost by major decision to #5 Dustin Van Oort of West Sioux. He continued in the consolation bracket.
On day 3, Gage beat #9 Chance Christensen of Riceville for the win by major decision. He lost by a fall to #6 Aidan Timm of Belle Plaine in the consolation semifinals.
In his fifth place match, he met once again Dustin Van Oort of West Sioux. Gage took the match to overtime, but Van Oort would win with a sudden victory.
Gage finished his season with a 43-9 record and sixth place.
A sixth place finish and a stellar four years of wrestling for Gage Burden. Dreams do come true!!!
JH Boys Basketball
The Tigers hosted the Notre Dame Nikes on Feb. 17, 2025. The seventh grade won their match 36 — 32. The leading scorer was Charlie Wellington with 15. Branz Manning and Gradyn Wiseman each had nine. Job Reighard added two and Parker Pry made a free throw.
The eighth grade faced a tough undefeated Nike team. The final score was Tigers 20/Nikes 46.
Zane Long led the Tigers with 13 points. Linken Welcher added four, and Tatem Reed rounded out the scoring with three.
Their season is winding down, and they have improved so much this year. Coach Shane Barron has done a great job. Finish strong, Tigers!!!
