Junior High Boys Basketball
The boys played on Thursday, Jan. 18, hosting the Danville Bears, In both the 7th grade and 8th grade game, the Bears jumped out to an early lead that kept both teams playing catch-up. Both teams got close, but could never quite catch the Bears.
The 7th grade lost 27 — 39. Kellan Porter had 20 points and Linken Welcher added seven that included a three.
The 8th grade lost 29 — 34. Dylan Burden led the Tigers with 10 points. Gavin Strawhacker scored eight, Cole Swanson added six, and Jaece Deterding had five that included a three-pointer.
Varsity Girls Basketball
The girls played three games last week, as snow and cold caused school to be closed and games rearranged. They hosted Danville on Tuesday, January 16. The Tigers didn’t score in the 1st and 3rd quarter and lost the game 12 — 89. Sophie Malott scored six, Morgan Jones had four, and Olivia Hester added two.
Thursday, Jan. 18, the Tigers hosted Central Lee. The final score was NL-16/CL-54. There were no individual stats available at press time.
The Tigers played Holy Trinity in Fort Madison on Friday, January 19. The Tigers suffered the loss, 22 — 65. There were no individual stats available at press time.
Varsity Boys Basketball
The boys played Danville in early December and lost by one point, 64 — 63. On their next meeting on 1/16, the final score was NL/23 and Danville 57. At half time, the Tigers were down by eight. They would score only nine more points, as their second half cold shooting woes continue. Brigham Porter scored seven points and had three rebounds. Brendan Richey and London Franklin both had six points. Franklin also had six rebounds and a block. Carter Benjamin finished with four points and two rebounds.
Central Lee was next up. They outscored the Tigers 45 to 24 in the first three quarters. The final was NL/42 and CL/56. The Hawks shot over 50% while the Tigers shot 26%. Carter Benjamin led the scoring with14 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Brigham Porter added 12 points and four rebounds. Brendan Richey added 10 points, and London Franklin had four points and six rebounds. Memphis Watson had two points and 11 rebounds.
Then on Friday the Tigers played at Holy Trinity. Holy Trinity won, 77 — 39. Brendan Richey led the scoring with 16 points. London Franklin added nine. Carter Benjamin and Brigham Porter each had seven points and five and six rebounds respectively.
All in all, it was a tough week for Tiger basketball.
Varsity Wrestling
The Tigers wrestled at the L & Tournament on Saturday, January 20. The boys did well with Michael Raines taking first place. Kane Forseen — 2nd; Gavin Menke-Bailey — 3rd; and Riley Raines — 6th.

•Thursday, Jan. 25 — Varsity Quad @ NLHS. It’s Senior Night, Tiger Cub Night, and honoring Coach Chiri Night
•Saturday, Jan. 27 is the Conference Tournament at Notre Dame starting at 10 a.m.
