JV Boys Basketball
The bright spot this season has been the JV boys. They notched two more wins!!! The Tigers beat Danville 58-53. They next beat WACO 40-31. Keep it going Tigers!
Varsity Girls Basketball
The first game after the break was against Holy Trinity on Jan. 3. The Tigers had another tough night, losing 51 — 27. Mylee Miller led the Tigers with 12 points, 17 rebounds, and a block. Morgan Jones had seven points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. Megan Lee and Madelynn Nelson each added four points.
On Jan. 6, the Tigers played the Mt. Pleasant Panthers. The Tigers lost 52 — 14. The leading scorer was again Mylee Miller. She had eight points, five rebounds, and two blocks. Morgan Jones added four points, and Madelynn Nelson had two.
The opponent on Jan. 7 was the Danville Bears. The Tigers scored in single digits in all four quarters, losing 49 — 17. Mylee Miller made her presence known with seven points, nine rebounds, and two blocks. Others scoring for the Tigers were freshmen Ruby Myers with four and Maison Nelson with three. Myers also pulled down five rebounds. Morgan Jones had two points, and Megan Lee added one.
West Burlington came to town on Jan. 10. The Tigers were held to single digit scoring in all four quarters, losing 41 to 21. Mylee Miller had nine points, 10 rebounds, and five blocked shots. Morgan Jones had seven points and six rebounds. Others scoring were Megan Lee with three and Molly Proost with two.
Saturday, Jan. 11, the Tigers traveled to WACO. The first two quarters the Tigers scored six to the Warriors 26. But the girls actually won the second half, scoring 20 points to WACO’s 17. The final score was WACO 43 to New London 26.
Varsity Boys Basketball
On Saturday, Jan. 4, the Tigers took on Iowa City Regina on their home court. The Tigers were held to single digits in all four quarters, losing 71 to 14. Brigham Porter led the Tigers with six points and two steals. London Franklin added four points and Tate Welcher and Riley Raines added two each. It was a tough night!
On Jan. 6, the Tigers made the short trip to Mt. Pleasant where the Panthers waited. After the first quarter the Tigers were down by 16 points. The final was Tigers 27 — Mt. Pleasant 66.
London Franklin scored 12 points. Riley Raines and Tate Welcher each had five. Brigham Porter added four and Cole Swanson had one.
Danville came to town on Jan. 7. At the half, the Tigers were only down by five points. But a fourth quarter of only six points sealed the 73 — 52 loss.
London Franklin poured in 22 points, and Brigham Porter added 20. They combined six rebounds and five steals. Tate Welcher and Riley Raines each added five points.
On Friday, Jan. 10, the undefeated West Burlington Falcons flew into town. The Tigers fell 86 — 50.
London Franklin had a big night scoring 21 points plus five rebounds and four steals. Others scoring were Tate Welcher-6, Brigham Porter-5, Cole Swanson and Riley Raines 4 each, Logan Franklin, Dylan Burden, and Gavin Strawhacker-3 each, and Carter Adams -1.
Saturday, Jan. 11, The Tigers took on the WACO Warriors, the fifth game of the week. The tired Tigers lost 70-39.
The leading scorer was again London Franklin with 20 points. Brigham Porter had six points and seven rebounds. Freshman Gavin Strawhacker had five points and Riley Raines added four. Cole Swanson and Israel Lemley each added two.
It is a hard season when the wins don’t come. But adversity has its own lessons. Never giving up is admirable. Keep working hard Tigers!
