Wrestling
The Tiger wrestlers competed in the Gary Curtis Invitational at Highland on Jan. 11. As a team, the Tigers finished 12th with 44 points. Gage Burden placed 3rd at 138 pounds. Kane Forseen, at 126 pounds, had a 4th place overall finish.
WACO hosted a double dual against Columbus/W-MU and New London on Jan. 16. As a team, it was Columbus over NL, 48-35 and WACO 48 to NL 34. Kane Forseen, Tucker Syfert, and Corbin Jacobs-Jewell each went 2-0.
The Tigers participated in the WACO Invitational on Jan. 18. The results follow:
- Kane Forseen (126) — 1st
- Gage Burden (138) — 2nd
- Corbin Jacobs-Jewell — 3rd
- Gavin Menke-Bailey — 4th
- Killian Kelly (157) — 2nd
As a team, the Tigers finished 4th
JV Boys BB
Another week, another victory. This team defeated the Columbus Wildcats 62-47. At home, they lost a close one to Van Buren, 49-41. Keep working hard guys!!!
Varsity Girls Basketball
On Jan. 14, the Tigers hosted the Van Buren County Warriors. The Tigers had a slow start, scoring in the single digits in all four quarters. The final was VBC 45 to NL 24.
Mylee Miller had 10 points, eight rebounds, and five blocked shots. Megan Lee added seven points and three rebounds. Morgan Jones added five points and five steals. Ruby Myers added two points and five rebounds.
On Thursday, Jan. 16, the Tigers played Moravia on their home court. At halftime, the score was only separated by four points. But the final was a Moravia win 59 — 37.
Mylee Miller had a big night scoring 18 points with six steals. Megan Lee was close behind with 12 points and six rebounds. Molly Proost scored five points and Morgan Jones added two points.
Jan. 17 saw the Tigers at Notre Dame on their Homecoming night. At halftime the score was tied at 17. But the Tigers only managed two points in the third quarter to Notre Dame’s 14. The Tigers won the fourth quarter 14 to 10, but it was too little too late. The final was ND 41 to NL 33.
Varsity Boys Basketball
The Tigers were close to getting their first win on Jan. 14 against Van Buren County. With a little more than a minute left in the game, the Tigers were only down by three, but in the end, the boys lost a heartbreaker by six, 67-61. There were no stats available.
On Jan. 16, the boys hosted Moravia. The score was tied at halftime at 20 all. But the Tigers could only mustered 17 more points to Moravia’s 30. There were no stats available.
The Tigers ended the week with a drubbing by the 10-2 Nikes on Jan. 17. The final score was 70-16.
London Franklin was the leading scorer for the Tigers with seven points. Gavin Strawhacker and Israel Lemley each had three points, and Brigham Porter added two. Cole Swanson sank a free throw.
It has been another tough week… never give up Tigers!!!!
