Girls Varsity Basketball
The post season was waiting for the Tigers on Feb. 13 in the form of Hillcrest Academy. It was a close game that the Tigers just missed getting the win. They were ahead at the half, 21 — 20. The 3rd quarter was their undoing putting them four points down at the end of three quarters. They won the 4th quarter, but it just wasn’t quite enough. They lost 47 — 44. But they never quit. Each and every girl on that team gave it their all … not only on this night but for the whole season.
Boys Varsity Basketball
The boys traveled to Davis County, and it just wasn’t their night. The score at the half was Tigers 23/Davis County 38. The final was a Tiger loss 77 — 44.
On Friday, the Tigers got their hearts broken on Valentine’s Day. They traveled to Wapello for a post season matchup. At the half, the Tigers were down 29 to 22. When they came out for the third quarter, they scored 21 points to Wapello’s 11. The fourth quarter saw the Tigers with the lead, 43 — 40. But Wapello hit a couple of threes and the final score was 55 — 51. The Tigers almost got the upset.
London Franklin led the Tigers with 15 points, while Tate Welcher had 13 points, Brigham Porter added 12 points, Riley Raines scored six points, and Israel Lemley had five points.
It was a hard season. There were moments of solid play that they just couldn’t maintain. The JV boys had a good season and together with the older boys, next year should be a better outcome. But however it goes, we are and will always be their biggest fans and that goes for the girls too … Go Tigers!
