The Tigers traveled to Burlington to take on their perennial rival Notre Dame on September 7. The Tigers had Father Mynatt Gym rocking as they took the first game, 25-21. Under the leadership of seniors Sophie Malott and Tysann Gipple, they would not be denied.
That seemed to wake a sleeping giant as Notre Dame took the second game, 25-17. The third game saw Gipple tie the score at 15-15. At 19-18, Notre Dame took charge scoring five points. The game ended with a Nike win, 25-21.
The fourth game was 25-15 Nikes.
The girls fought hard and had their chances. Coach Housman doesn’t fault her team’s effort. She cites their youth and inability to put games away, making W’s elusive. But she had nothing but praise for Gipple’s play on this night. She had an impressive run with 12 kills and 22 digs.
Malott had 13 kills and 14 digs on the night. Lillie Gallup contributed 25 digs and Morgan Jones had 12.
