Rebuilding years are always tough. This year’s Tigers are a heavily sophomore team. But the team played hard and showed a “never say die” attitude. The final score was 61-22, and to add insult to injury, they had to drive over two hours to get there.
QB Gavin Menke-Bailey was 7 for 15 passing for 182 yards, two TDs, and one interception. His receivers were Cale Westerbeck, London Franklin, Brigham Porter, and Corbin Jacobs-Jewell. London Franklin had two receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown. Westerbeck racked up 63 yards on two catches and scored a TD. Porter had two catches for 35 yards, and Jacobs-Jewell had one catch for three yards.
Menke-Bailey rushed for 102 yards on 16 carries. Porter had 53 yards and a TD on seven carries, and London Franklin had 50 yards on 17 carries.
Leading the defense with 10.5 tackles was Menke-Bailey. Porter added seven, and Nic Loyd had 6.5. Jacobs-Jewell had five, and London Franklin had four.
Israel Lemley handled the kicking for the Tigers. Menke-Bailey and Jacobs-Jewell each had a two-point conversion.
The road doesn’t get any easier for the Tigers as they take-on the ranked Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves for their first home game of the season. Let’s get Tiger Nation at the game to cheer them on … Go Tigers!!!
