‘Tis the Season Fun Day is Saturday, July 27
By Virginia Ekstrand
Jul. 25, 2024 12:00 am
Leslie Fraise and ‘Tis the Season have planned a busy, exciting Fun Day. The Parade begins at 11 a.m. followed by Lunch in the Park at noon. The New London City Park will have bounce houses, a dunk tank, free games, vendors, and entertainment. From noon until 2, visit the cars parked around the square. Registration for the Bags tournament begins at 3 p.m. Bags fly at 4. The street dance at Woobie’s begins at 8 p.m. and features the Band 11:111.
Leslie has issued a call for help to complete plans for the day. An organization or a volunteer is needed to lead the parade carrying the flag. More parade entries would be appreciated. There is still space for vendors. The cost is $25 for 10x10 space. Young people are needed to help in the sweet treat area. Additional face painters would be very welcome. Adults are needed in the play areas and for general supervision. The community is very talented and if you can play a guitar, harmonica, line dance or, you are needed to grace the stage. The Celebration School of Dance will begin the stage entertainment, but all are welcome to perform.
‘Tis the Season is very involved in helping the school. A box has been placed in the Park to receive school supplies. Teacher wish lists are already available. When you shop for those important pencils, paper, crayons, etc. buy an extra set or two and drop them by. A box for non-perishable food items will also be available. Every little bit helps.
To sign up to volunteer, parade, or other questions reach out, call or text Leslie at 319-457-1113. If you're near Woobie's, stop in and chat with Judy about how you can help.
Last but not least, attend the fun day. Everyone is welcome. Come to the Park and enjoy a family friendly, affordable event. Make new friends, laugh as you run the 3 legged race or try the sack hop. The event is designed to promote community solidarity. Leslie’s greatest wish is “that we can all just come together for a day to enjoy our community.”
