Every year the New London community goes all out to make Halloween as safe as possible for its trick-or-treat celebrations. This year there are a number of trunk and treat locations.
Start Halloween celebrations by dressing your youngsters in costume Saturday, Oct. 26. From 1-3 p.m., Ray’s Specialty Meats is hosting a number of community organizations and individual sponsors. Trunks and tents are set up for fun and treats. There will also be free hot chocolate. After visiting Ray’s and saying thank you, head out to New London Specialty Care. The residents have treats for youngsters of all ages. This is a great opportunity for the community to “in-reach” and meet the people. The Specialty Care group are especially fond of children.
The City Council declared Thursday, Oct. 31 as citywide trick-or-treat night. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. The Lions Club is serving their traditional free hot dogs. They are open at the City Park shelter from 5 until the hot dogs are one. On the East side of the city park 5-7 p.m., trunk or treat stations will be decorated and manned by many groups and individuals. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary are offering trunk or treat in the parking lot in front of the VFW Post. It is open from 5-7 p.m. Citywide individual house trick-or-treat visits are open from 5-7 p.m. as well.
Safety is the main concern of the city council and community. Treat buckets should be overflowing. Take advantage of the chance to visit with all the great sponsors of this event. A huge thank you to everyone for making this event possible.
