Utilities have a busy month

The New London Utility Trustees had a regular monthly meeting on Nov. 6, 2025 with all members present. They approved the agenda and the consent agenda.
In open forum, Chairman Heater welcomed new Trustees Karl Riley and Brent Roth who will be joining the Board in December. He also thanked Trustees Wilhelm and Byczek for their participation on and the wisdom they brought to the board. Mayor Miller agreed.
Next up was reports. Chairman Heater will discuss the duties of the board and what projects are currently being pursued. He also noted that the wind turbine is producing at a good level. He is hoping to hit 5,000,000 kWh yet this year. That number is about half of what their customers use yearly.
Trustee Byczek and Wilhelm commented on some of the projects that the board is currently working on. They include an additional fuel tank for the diesel generation plant and a new well to pump water from the diesel generation plant to the water treatment plan.
The utility foreman reported on several completed projects. This included electric to the third addition of the Pine St. addition and have water and electric installed on phase 2 of Dover Estates. He also said that they have been very busy helping locate gas mains for Alliant all over town.
In old business:
· Approved Ted Wiegand to complete the utility audit for FYs 2026, 2027, and 2028 for a cost not to exceed $16,000, $17,000, and $18,000 respectively.
In new business:
· Approved investing a CD in the amount of $216,000 at the Danville State Savings Bank for 180 days at 4.00%.
· Approved employees’ paid leave on Dec. 26, 2025.
· Approved advertising for a part-time utility clerk, keeping it open until the right person can be hired. Mary Rink will work through Dec. 31, 2025.
The meeting adjourned at 1:25 p.m. The next regular meeting of the Utility Board will be Dec. 4, 2025 at 3 p.m. at the City Office.
