On Dec. 5, 2024, the Utility Trustees held their monthly meeting with all members present. They approved the agenda and the consent agenda, and no one addressed them in open forum.
In old business, Dave Ford, utility foreman, gave the trustees an update on the purchase of a high service pump and VFD controls. They have been ordered and will be installed upon arrival.
They then turned their attention to new business. Dan Heater was approved as Chairman for 2025. The vote was unanimous with Heater abstaining. Jodi Jackson was approved as Chairperson Pro Tem for 2025. The vote was unanimous with Jackson abstaining.
They then approved the following committee appointments for 2025:
•Finance — Jean Westerbeck & Jerry Wilhelm
•Building & Equipment — Dan Heater & Robert Byczek
•Personnel, Safety & Training — Jodi Jackson & Byczek
•Projects — Heater & Westerbeck
Roll call was all ayes with Wilhelm voting “no.” Motion carried.
They then approved the reinvesting of electric funds for $117,275.00 and $42,055.00 in 182-day CDs at the Danville State Savings Bank at 4.50%.
The Trustees then discussed equipment on hand as it impacts backup transformers that would supply electricity to key businesses in the service area. There has been a substantial delay of a year or more from transformers being ordered and when the are received.
Utility Foreman Ford gave the Trustees a list of businesses and their corresponding transformer sizes. He made them aware of the transformer sizes they have on hand. Ford’s recommendation was that they add to the stock to ensure continuity of service for these businesses. The Trustees directed Ford to get quotes for purchasing three transformer sizes.
The last item was the foreman’s report. The utility department activities for the month were highlighted.
The meeting adjourned at 1:25 p.m. The next Utility Board meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025 at 1 p.m. in the city office.
