The utility trustees met for their monthly meeting on July 3, 2025 with all members present. They approved the agenda without change, and no one addressed the trustees in open forum.
In reports, Chairman Heater told the trustees that they can expect the wind turbine’s production will decrease as this time of year has less wind. Trustee Jackson informed the group that the Resale Power Group of Iowa has been dealing with some issues at the state level recently, but not much of it will affect New London.
The trustees were updated on the replacement of the controls for the WWTP. Jetco is booked out with jobs, but the utility is now on their schedule and is just waiting for their availability.
The 55’ Terex bucket truck is still being equipped. Most of the tools needed are here, but there are some they are still waiting on.
The trustees were updated on the inspection and repair of the wind turbine blades. Dave Ford is working with Vensys and WES Engineering to get their recommendation on companies who do that work. He will continue get quotes, although summer is their busiest time. Ford noted that blade inspection and repair is a normal part of routine and preventive maintenance.
The trustees approved the consent agenda that included the minutes of the previous meeting, accepted reports, and approved payment of claims.
In new business, the trustees approved reinvesting water funds in the amount of $108,800 and $71,600 and electric funds in the amount of $120,800, $124,700, and $123,400 in a 182-day CDs at Danville State Savings Bank at 4.50%.
After discussing the mowing they are responsible for, they agreed it was too late and will look for another option before mowing season next year.
The meeting adjourned at 1:20 p.m. The next regular utility board meeting will be Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the city office.
