The Donald M. Wasson VFW Post 7641 Auxiliary will host their Annual Veterans Brunch, Sunday, Nov. 10 at the post home at 802 East McKinley in New London. The brunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and includes pastries, biscuits & gravy, egg casseroles, fruit, grilled pork loin, cheesy potatoes and veggies. A Free Will Donation will be taken for the breakfast.
Following the brunch, VFW Post 7641 and the Auxiliary welcomes everyone to their Veterans Day Observance with Steven Parker of Burlington as guest speaker. Steve’s favorite quote is: "It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice."
Steve may be better known as McGruff the Crime Dog. He is also a magician, a pastor and a ventriloquist. That is just the beginning of a long list of interests. He has been in law enforcement for many years. As we observe “the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month,” his words of remembrance will be moving. The Armistice, an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War as a prelude to peace negotiations, began at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, 1918.
