A wonderful fundraiser was held at Henry County Conservation Nature Center and Park. This annual event supports the animal fund. These animals cannot be returned to the wild due to injuries. As Conservation Ambassadors, they are a wonderful addition to the educational services offered by the Conservation Department. It is expensive and time-consuming to care for these animals. Many community members have signed up to support particular animals but extra funds are always welcome.
Additionally, vendors are invited rent an area and display their business offerings. Each vendor brings their favorite wine to share with the visitors. As one looks at the creations and ideas, the vendors also have learned about the wine they offer. The visit to each station is a fun learning experience. The variety of local businesses is amazing. Many of the vendors do not have store fronts. This event is a good way to learn about new products and foods.
The first place to visit is the Registration area. The free will donation box is there. A donation of $5 is recommended. A free cup with the HCC logo was distributed along with a vendor map. The Conservation department is there ready and willing to answer any questions. Vendors are strategically placed along the road from the Nature Center to the roundabout close to the Maple Syrup trail.
The weather was beautiful. Fall clearly is beginning but it is a little early for leaf change. The event really invites one to return for a stroll in the Autumn beauty and become familiar with all the projects the Henry County Conservation Department initiates and maintains.
Many children were among the visitors. Plan on bringing them to the Oct. 5 Halloween at the Campground.
