Set your calendar. “You Go, Goddess!” will be presented Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11 at Matinee 2 p.m. and a final performance Saturday at 7 p.m.
Performing Arts students have been working hard. Practices have been held early in the morning for several weeks. These last two weeks before the presentation, they will be practicing late into the evening. Additionally, during weekends, study halls, and any spare time, the stage crew has been busy transforming the auditorium into its new world. Prepare to be transported to the world of Greek Mythology for a night of fun. This hilarious, heart-warming play has a large number of characters. While introducing a new female hero, it also has an array of fun characters everyone should get to know.
Adapted from the Greek myths of old, “You Go, Goddess!” is a girl power comedy. A vengeful sorceress places a curse on Hercules. All of humanity will be plunged into eternal darkness unless a new hero can be found. Who steps forward to make things right – Calliope!! This daughter of Hercules is shy and socially awkward. However, armed with a magic sword, an ancient map and Narcissus, her wise cracking side-kick, she takes off. She races against time and ferocious monsters to rescue her father and save the world.
The play is quirky and focuses on girl power while presenting fun characters for the audience to get to know. It is a great opportunity for many students to be involved. Everyone recognizes and loves Hercules but are cheering Calliope by the end. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy modernized Greek characters played by our talented young actors.
