This is the fourth year that the library has used brag tags during our Annual Summer Reading Program.
After the success of the first year, the staff added a feature. For three years, the library staff has hosted a contest to design them. This has been a popular decision with some classrooms including the project in their art classes.
Brag tags are a tag, similar to "dog tags." Readers can place the tag on a keychain or necklace and thereby display their reading accomplishments. The more books read, the more tags earned.
Ten tags can be earned. If more reading goals are met after the 10 tags have been earned, the reader then collects beads to be displayed.
This year the library received over 100 submissions for the contest. While all the submissions were excellent the rules required the library staff chose 20 images that would be used to create 10 brag tags.
This year the designs of the following artists were chosen: Ava Boisen (K), Finley Conner (K), Abigail Cumpton (8th), Elinor Drummond (K), Bennett Duncan (K), Lillian Francy (5th), Skylar Francy (K), Cecillia Jefferson (5th), Clarabelle Kranzler (K), Riley Merschman (7th), Neveah Mincks (6th), Elizabeth Ngugi (5th), Lylah Noel (5th), Josephine Panther (K), Kellan Porter (6th), Kayleigh Schmitt (1st), Brooklyn Schmitt (5th), Kylea Schwenker (6th), Alexia Turner (5th), & Charlie Wellington (5th).
All submissions turned in will be uploaded to the library Facebook page for viewing as well as displayed in the library for the duration of the reading program. Get ready to signup for the summer reading program which begins the last day of school, May 26.
