Help local middle schoolers at Financial Literacy Fair
Apr. 3, 2022 2:14 pm
Kirkwood Workplace Learning Connect is looking for volunteers to talk with middle school students about financial well-being for one morning.
On April 13, over 250 eighth-graders from Highland, Mid-Prairie and Washington will participate in the Financial Literacy Fair at KC Hall in Washington from 8:30 a.m.-noon.
Throughout the year these students learn about career paths, the basics of budgeting, and financial well-being.
Based on their aptitude and interests, they select a career, determine their monthly income and develop a virtual budget.
This spring they will attend the Fair to make financial decisions and document their choices on the FLF budget sheet. Financial Literacy Fair is a fun interactive way for students to learn the connection between careers/education and income/lifestyle, wants vs. needs, and how quickly it all adds up.
No experience is necessary for volunteers. A brief volunteer training is given before students arrive.
