WASHINGTON — Kirkwood’s Washington County Regional Center’s Signing Day on Wednesday, April 23, was a celebration of achievement and a moment to recognize local seniors who have earned College Credit in High School and who have made the decision to continue their education at Kirkwood Community College. Surrounded by classmates, family, and Kirkwood staff, students proudly signed their certificates, posed for photos, and enjoyed refreshments. Kirkwood’s mascot, Sammy the Eagle, made a special appearance, adding to the excitement and cheering on students for making the "best decision ever" to attend Kirkwood this fall.
“This event is all about celebrating our students and the hard work they’ve put in during high school to earn college credit,” said Tera Pickens, Director of the Washington County Regional Center. “It’s inspiring to see so many of them choosing to build on that foundation at Kirkwood as they take the next step in their academic and career journey.”
Ryan Ronan, Student Academic and Support Coordinator, emphasized the significance of the moment for students and their families. “Signing Day is a special milestone. It’s not just about the decision to continue at Kirkwood – it’s about recognizing the dedication and effort these students have already put into their education,” he said. “We’re celebrating their achievements so far and the bright futures ahead of them.”
