Do you like to read, watch movies, explore the Internet, listen to audio books, read e-books, and socialize with other readers? Then visit Winfield Public Library where you can find all the above and more. It offers a wealth of information and entertainment.
Librarian, Jacques Lake leads a book club the second Monday of each month at 5:00. Anyone who is interested in reading the book of the month and discussing it with other readers is invited to participate in the book club. There are no “rules or regulations,” come when you can and enjoy a sharing your thoughts on the book of the month. The book for the next month is given out at each meeting or, if you miss the meeting, you can get one from Jacque at the library.
There’s something for everyone at the library. Four classes of preschoolers visit the library once a month for stories and crafts. Popcorn and movies are offered on early out Wednesdays. The Beacon is digitalized so if you want to look up a particular event, or find a person Jacques will be happy to help you log on. Other area newspapers that are digitalized can also be accessed at the library.
Jacques often has guests to inform or entertain groups. A magician was a hit with the kids, while adults enjoyed meeting John R. Bain, from Wayland, author of Christie’s JOURNEY, a story about his daughter’s battle with a heart defect. These are just two the many people who have been guest entertainers or speakers at the library. There will be more, watch the Beacon for upcoming programs.
Each summer, shortly after school it out, a summer reading program is held at the library, featuring stories, games, and crafts. Prizes are given at the end of the secession.
There is no need to be bored when the library is here to provide something for everyone. You are invited to visit the Winfield Public Library to discover the opportunities it has for you.
