Cold weather moved wiener roast indoors
Winfield’s Annual Wiener roast hosted indoors for first time

WINFIELD — The unpredictable cold of autumn in Iowa did not stop the Winfield community from holding their Halloween festivities last week, however, it did move them inside the Winfield Veteran’s Building.
While this was the first year for the celebration to ever move in doors due to weather, the Winfield City Council ensured that the evening met expectations for celebrating the holiday.
Donning fun, creative, and vibrant costumes Halloween enthusiasts of all ages filed into the Veteran’s Building for hotdogs, treats, and a costume contest.
The Winfield Lions Club hosted their annual Halloween Contest alongside the traditional wiener roast from the warmth of inside and gave out prizes for first, second and third place in five categories on Halloween.
Thanks to the discerning judges Officer Jeff Dietrich, Fire Chief Josh Sparrow, and Winfield Mayor Willie Bender, the following earned bragging rights and prizes at the contest:
