LETTS — Reduce your landfill footprint with wiggling worms! Join Louisa County Conservation on Wednesday, Jan. 3, from 6-8 p.m. at the Letts Public Library to make and take home your own worm bin!
In the United States roughly 150,000 tons of food is thrown away everyday. This food waste then sits in landfills as it rots away. Learn how to turn your household food waste into useful and valuable compost instead of sending it to the landfill.
During the program, participants will work on creating their own composting worm bin. Resources will be sent home with the bins to help participants care for their new vermiculture.
Participants can choose whether they would like to make one bin for themselves or work with others to create a bin. Let’s work together to reduce food waste in Louisa County!
Participants can choose two registration options. $25 — receive all materials for one, household size, worm bin. $20 — bring your own ~18-gallon storage tote.
All ages are welcome to attend, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must register by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Call 319-523-8381 or email conservation@louisacountyia.gov to register or with questions. Online registration and payment is available through MyCountyParks.com/County/Louisa.aspx
Letts Public Library is located at 125 E Iowa St. Letts, Iowa 52754
