HC Historic Preservation Commission meeting info

The Henry County Historic Preservation Commission held its May meeting on Wednesday, May 17 at the courthouse.

All but two commissioners were present for the meeting, with the main topic of discussion being the progress on the book on Henry County's cemeteries. All but just a few sections are completed with a first draft expected to be completed mid-summer.

Commissioner Pat White will be attending the 2023 Preserve Iowa Summit in Sioux City held the first week of June.

Upcoming history related events in Henry County in June include the rededication of the organ at the Swedish-American museum in Swedesburg and a presentation on the underground railroad by Cathy and Dave Helman on June 10 at the Henry County Heritage Trust Museum starting at 2 p.m.

The next Commission meeting will be held June 21.
