Henry County Historical Preservation Commission meets

The Henry County Historic Preservation Commission met Wednesday Sept. 20 at the Henry County Courthouse.
Attending were Commissioners Larry D. Roth, Judy Rawson, Johanna Crawford, Cathie Schreiner, Mary Savage, Caroline Lehman, Pat White, and Joel Garretson.
The agenda and minutes from August were approved, followed by the treasurer's report and distribution of correspondence.
Larry Roth announced that the Wayland Historic Residential District nomination for the National Register of Historic Places is currently being reviewed by the National Park Service and could be approved by October or November.
The Henry County Heritage Trust Museum will be presenting a picture show about Oakland Mills, featuring speakers Pat White and Lynn Conrad at 2 p.m. Saturday September 23. Proceeds from the event will benefit the K-Line flag stop building project.
Pat White presented the final draft of the Cemeteries of Henry County book which is expected to go into production next month. Further discussion of the Lowell Mills D.A.R. monument included the possibility of obtaining a grant for relocation and reconstruction.
The next Commission meeting will be Oct. 18 at the Courthouse.
