WINFIELD — Saturday night many enjoyed the Winfield Area Grateful Gathering’s (WAGG) most recent event, a free concert by country recording artist Jake McVey.
In the simple setting of the Winfield-Mt. Union High School gym, concertgoers were treated to an intimate look into McVey's life and his songwriting process, using personal experiences and his faith to fuel his songwriting.
Growing up in Washington, graduating from Mediapolis High School, and having several family members in the area, McVey was touched at how many local businesses pitched in to sponsor the concert, some of which include businesses he has been using since growing up in the area.
Businesses who sponsored the concert include American Waterjet Cutting, Gerling Repair and Service, Hagge Insurance, J & Construction, LLC, Jennings Real Estate, Meagan Wonders Carpentry LLC, Pilot Grove Savings Bank, Shelman Trucking, Sinclair Tractor, Sparrow Building Services Inc., Wayland State Bank, Winfield Builders Supply, Winfield Hy-Vee Pharmacy, Winfield Tire and Auto, and Winfield Veterinary Clinic.
The next WAGG event will be March 16, at 6:30 p.m. featuring Norman Brooks, trombonist.
