The Reconnaissance Level Historical and Architectural Survey of Scott Township, Winfield, Iowa has been completed, and a 114-page report has been published.
2000
Marianne White was the guest of honor at an open house held on June 27 at the Winfield Public Library.
Robert Charles Renken was born June 19, 2000, the son of Tony and Mandy Renken.
1995
WMU standout, Eric Rawson, was named “Hawk Eye Male Prep Athlete of the Year” by the Burlington Hawkeye.
The WMU Hospitality Committee sponsored a farewell dinner for Dave Christensen.
Linda Lappe and Katie Sorrell participated in the Iowa Lady Gators Girls AAU 18 and Under basketball competition at the fifth annual North Tartan National Inter-Sectional Association Girls’ Basketball Tournament.
1990
Winfield Volunteer Fire Department was called to the Laura Stotts residence in Winfield when faulty wiring was blamed for a fire. The fire was extinguished when firemen arrived and apparently started in a drop cord that was too small for an air conditioning unit.
Heidi Lynn Bernau and Russell Wagler are engaged and planning an August 25 wedding.
1985
WMU High School Principal John Heying, and WMU Physical Education teacher Al Taylor, were presented plaques by Dr. Billy Nordyke from the Iowa Heart Association.
1980
A bus trip under the sponsorship of the Winfield Presbyterian Church left June 28 to visit Lamb’s Mission on 44th Street in New York.
Canoe races were held at Twin Lakes on July Fourth with Russ Allbaugh and Lon Haight winners of the contest.
1975
Lightning struck the Ronnie Van Auken farm home east of Winfield. No fire resulted; however, a hole was blown in the roof on the west side of the house about two-foot square.
1970
Brooks Palar and Hal Beauchamp were injured when the car Brooks was driving went out of control on loose gravel about two miles southeast of Winfield.
Nancy Drake and Elizabeth Dunn were in Europe as members of the international Cultural Exchange Eastern Iowa choir of 40 members.
