The Winfield fire Department answered a call to the Donna Gerling farm where faulty wiring in a shed was blamed for the fire. The only damage was to the wiring.
Paul Wilkerson recently toured West Germany as one of a select group of American wrestlers. Last week he placed fifth in the Junior National Tournament, Cedar Falls.
1985
Kirk Soukup and Charles Gogel have been hired as head and assistant football coaches.
Paul and Sandy Kemp are the parents of Nicholas Andrew, born June 25, 1985.
Bill and Sherry Johson are the parents of Dustin Lyn, born July 11, 1985.
1980
Steve Wettach, DDS, announced the opening of the Winfield Dental Clinic at 107 E. Pine with office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Jackie Beard and Tammy Davis will be staffing the Winfield office.
The Winfield Fire Department was called to the Dale Larson farm northeast of town where a car was on fire. A 1976 ford was destroyed, but the garage was saved by firefighters.
1960
Robert C. Ledman has been offered a contract to coach junior high athletics, girls’ basketball and assist with high school physical education and boys’ basketball and teach math, science, and social studies at the junior high level. He will replace Ray Brainard.
1945
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Metzger have received word that their son, Pvt. Dale Metzger, has been missing in action on Okinawa since May 18.
