2015
Levi Scott Watson, age 18, lost control of his 2004 Grand AM Pontiac on W66, north of Winfield just into Louisa County, on Aug. 30. There were no injuries. Power lines were knocked down and the car ended up in the field.
Ed and Mary Kilpatrick, of Winfield, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 11, 2015.
After not having a program for a few years, WMU is now offering FCS (Home EC) classes again under the direction of FCS teacher Kathy Holtcamp.

Terry Phelps was elected to fill a vacancy on the Winfield City Council. He was sworn in at a special meeting held Aug. 28.
Kent Feeds, Inc. announced that Tyler James Rees as the recipient of a scholarship presented by Kent Feeds.
Megan Elizabeth Griffith and Wyatt Paul Peterson were united in marriage on June 17, 2000 at the Winfield Methodist Church.
Returning lettermen to the 2000 WMU football team were Chad McAllister, Jason Remick, Chad Haines, Matt Hobbs, and Tyler Rees.
1995
New teachers to the WMU district this school year are Bobbi Fry, Rick Gelhaus, Rita Eichner, Kathy Mullin, Linda Westercamp, and Barb Phelps.

Karen Strubhart and Jonathan Eustler were married Sept. 1 in New Baden.

Kim Robb was named the new Ag Loan Officer at the Farmers National Bank of Winfield.
Roxanne Sitzes has successfully completed the course in Auctioneering Auction-Sales Management at Missouri Auction School.
Adam Christopher Buster was born on Aug. 25, 1985, to Mark and Lisa Buster.
1980
A need has been noticed for a sidewalk joining Sunrise Terrace and Westview Apartments. A goal of $800 has been established.
1975
Stockholders reelected to the Sunrise Terrace Board of Directors Robert W. Connop, Roger K. Hanze, and William R. Ibbotson.
The E.N. Eyhler Estate Auction was scheduled for Sept. 3.
1970
Area girls in the Midwest Old Threshers “Sweet Sixteen” contest were Denise Ann Anderson, Pam Boal, Connie Kellogg, Lorrie Lambert, Joan Ann Lee, and Julia Unkrich.
1965
During the month of August 1965 Winfield received 13.4 inches of rain. During the 24-hour period ending Aug. 30, 1965, 4.4 inches fell in Winfield, and during the 24-hour period ending Aug. 26, 5.4 inches fell.
Melvin Huston was hired as gas system maintenance man by the Winfield Town Council at a special meeting at the Town Hall. Bill Ibbotson was named supervisor of all departments of town maintenance.
A total of 544 students were enrolled at WMU Community Schools for the 1965-66 term.

Bernard Chandler, Michael Haight, and Ron Owens have left for Des Moines to take their physicals to enter the Air Force.
1955
Robert Harreld won the light-medium and medium classes, Wayne Stucker the light class, and Duane McDonald the heavy class of the Lions Club sponsored tractor pulling contest in connection with the Lions Club Fall Festival.
The Logan Oil Company has been burglarized for the second time in the past few months and at least three other businesses have been broken into. The loss was about $77.
1945
Petty Officer Dale Johnson has been abord the U.S.S. Wyoming, ‘the shootingest ship in the world,’ for 33 months.
1930
A number of men about town were given the chance to test their driving skills with a new Chevrolet car, the idea being to determine the kind of driving that gets the most mileage from gasoline. A small glass jar was arranged to take the place of the car’s regular gas tank and attached in full view. One pint of gas was placed in the jar and the driver took his place and the test begins with the start of the motor. The south road out of town was used in every test. The bst mileage was secured by G.R. Arthaud, who lacked a few feet of getting three miles from the pint of gas.
