Taylor Breon was presented with a plaque following the New London volleyball tournament on Oct. 2. Taylor had set her 1000th ball during the tournament.
Charles and Helen (Liechty) Odell are celebrating their Golden wedding anniversary on Oct. 15.

Kendra Thompson and Caleb Connop, both of Winfield, announced their engagement and upcoming Oct. 8 wedding.
Amy and Craig Sears, and big sister Payton, have announced the birth of Torrey Ashlyn, born Sept. 27, 2005.

Demolition and reconstruction has began for the addition to the Winfield Fire Station.
On Sept. 27 the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of burglary at the CountreeStore, located just north of the city limits of Winfield. Taken were 26 cartons of cigarettes.
Misty Dawn Stropes and Nathan Dale Graber have announced their engagement and upcoming Oct. 21 wedding.

Elected King and Queen for the 1995 WMU Homecoming were Brian Jones and Vonya Gibbs.
Rev. Todd Smith and family were welcomed to the First Presbyterian Church as the new pastor on Oct. 1, 1995.
Carmen Steele and 2LT Scott Polk were married June 3, 1995 in Urbandale.
Scott D. Tandy and Melissa Anne Frick have announced their engagement and upcoming Feb. 10, 1996 wedding.
1990
Janet Venghaus and Rodney Reynolds were married Sept. 15 in Winfield.
An informal open house honoring Scott and Mary Huston, who were married Sept. 15, was to be held Oct. 21 at the home of Tery and Betty Huston.
Carmen Leichty and Marc Benson were united in marriage Sept. 22.
Chapter P. T.T.T. honored Kathryn McCosh with her 50-year pin.
1985
Workmen for the Waterloo Construction Company have started refurbishing the bridge on Hwy. 78 west of Winfield.
Dana Bozarth was crowned WMU Homecoming Queen, and Scott Tandy was crowned King.
Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Miller celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thomas were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary.
1980
Kim Lauer and Rodney Davis exchanged wedding vows at the United Methodist Church in Mt. Union on Sept. 20.
1975
Joyce Canby is assuming the management of the Swedesburg Store which was operated by the Farmers Union Exchange board of directors.
Two 18,000-gallon LP gas storage tanks, their contents, a bulk delivery truck, and a pickup truck were all destroyed in an explosion and fire at the Mt. Union Co-Op Elevator Co. There were no injuries.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Harold Thomas will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.
1970
The Winfield Fire Department was called to extinguish a fire in a cornfield at the Bob Briggs farm across the railroad tracks north of the house.
New owners of the Crawfordsville Corner Café are Mr. and Mrs. Ora Marlatt. The café was purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lee.
1965
Linda Maxwell was named Homecoming Queen. Attendants were Charlene Hamilton, Nancy Hall, and Eulone Walker.
Fran’s Café has opened after moving and redecorating. The next day it was closed due to fire caused from an overheated deep fat fryer which burst into flames.
1955
Sergeant First Class Charles H. Howard of Winfield was serving on the medical team at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver helping to take care of President Eisenhowser.
1945
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Metzger received official word from the war department that their son, Pvt. Dale Metzger, was killed in action May 18 on Okinawa.
