The Winfield Fire & Rescue Unit was called to the Prairie Ag Coop in Winfield as the wind had blown down some electrical lines that whipped against the side of the old fertilizer building.
Terry and Betty Huston celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 24, 2005.
Barbara Buck and Steve Delaney were married April 1, 2005.
Harold and Margaret Messer celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 27, 2005.
Maxine Seberg celebrated her 85th birthday on Nov. 25, 2005.

Richard Hand, who has served as Winfield Assistant Fire Chief since January 1992, has stepped down from the position effective Oct. Randy Nelson, 20-year member, was named Assistant in his place.
Vernon Dean of Mt. Pleasant has joined Jennings and Associates Real Estate as a sales associate.
Maynard and Eloise Hill celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house on Nov. 25.
A baby shower was held Nov. 2 for Andrew Chrisinger, who was born Oct. 24 to Daniel and Beth Chrisinger.
Dr. Billy R. Nordyke of Winfield received the Governor’s Volunteer Award.

Larry Jennings was elected mayor of Winfield.
WMU senior, Burt Lappe, has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball for the University of Northern Iowa.
The Winfield Fire Department received a check in the amount of $1250 from the Medical Staff Affairs, Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Long of Winfield celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 25, 1995.
Michele Putnam of Jesup and Andy Davis of Crawfordsville have announced their upcoming Nov. 11, 1995 wedding.
1990
Mary Ripperger and Scott Huston were married on Sept. 15.
Edwin Swartzendruber of Olds remains in the University of Iowa Hospital following an accident on Hwy. 218 on Nov. 16.
1985
The WMU Education Association has voted to accept the compromise worked out between the school district and their organization on teachers’ salaries. Teachers will receive a $400 increase in their base pay and a 1% increase in supplemental pay for extracurricular activities after a teacher has served five years in that position.
Mt. Union Scotty lost a photo finish for third place after getting a new trainer, driver, and groom; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Johnston of Winfield Mt. Union Scotty is a three-year-old bay gelding pacer owned by Ralph Schenk of Mt. Union.
Karla Kay Davis and Kirk Eugene Beasley were united in marriage Sept. 28, 1985 in Sigourney.
1980
Carol Trees and Jan Lauber were treated and released from the Washington County Hospital following an accident on Nov. 15 at the Hwy. 92 and 218 junction near Ainsworth. A Des Moines County ambulance en route to Iowa City hit the left rear of their car.
1975
A 1973 Ford driven by Henry Townsend, 15, of Winfield, struck and killed a large hog on Hwy. 78 west of Winfield.
Among those with Century Farms were Durbin Christinger, George Swearingen, and Mrs. Paul Huston, all of Winfield.
