The Swedish Heritage Society held its annual Lucia Fest, with Sara Graf of Mt. Pleasant as this year’s Lucia.
2000
A son, Jacob Wesley, was born Dec. 18, 2000 to Dawn and Philip Marshall III.
Charles Van Dyke was honored with an open house on Dec. 28 as he retired after 63 years of service to the Peoples State Bank.
1995
The “I Love America Because” contest were Elizabeth Miller, first place; Rose Herrick, second place; and Sam Bauck, third place.
Diane Rodgers of Winfield and Cameron Davis of Mt. Pleasant were united in marriage on Sept. 30, 1995.
1990
A farm accident claimed the life of Brian Schmitz, age 19, Dec. 19. He was operating a skid loader at the home of his parents, Ronald and Louise Schmit west of Crawfordsville.
1985
Greg Hill, son of Roger and Marlene Hill, was presented his God and Country Award by Pastor Brown Garlock of the Winfield United Methodist Church.
1975
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lindell were surprised by an early 50th wedding anniversary celebration at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Lindell and family.
1970
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Hillyard were the first place winners in the home decorating contest sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Second place went to Mr. and Mrs. Keith Jones, and third went to Mrs. Kay Geary.
1965
George Buster was named the new manager of the telephone company. He and his family moved here from Hedrick.
Home decoration prize winners were the Clark Burns family, Allen Goff family, and Karl Kneen family in the contest sponsored by the Winfield Chamber of Commerce.
