Rebecca Chaplin, RN, has joined Iowa City Hospice as a primary nurse.
Mrs. Neilson’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Mullen’s food class made cookies together and took them to Sunrise Terrace to share with the residents.
Kathryn W. McCosh, age 94, died Dec. 23, 2005 at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.

Tony and Marcy Canby are the parents of a daughter, Caroline, born Dec. 15, 2000.
1995
Dane Beichter and his teacher, Jeff Batty, WMU High Schook, were among 100 Iowa high school students who have been named finalists in the Iowa State Bar Association’s ‘Know Your Constitution’ contest.
Burt Lappe, who earlier this season signed a national letter of intent with eh University of Northern Iowa, scored his 1000th point earlier this season.
Shelby Therme, daughter of Dave and Robin Therme, was baptized Christmas Eve morning at the First Presbyterian Church of Winfield.
1985
Dixie Conard retired Dec. 31, 1985, from the Farmers National Bank. She had worked there since July 5, 1960.
Dewain and Kathy Wixom of Guam are the parents of a son, Daniel Wade, born Dec. 17, 1985.
1970
Winfield’s population, according to official 1970 census, stood at 897, up 35 from the 1960 census.
Charles Lorenson, who has been stationed in Okinawa, is expected to leave home in January for discharge. His wife is the former Ronna Wintermeyer.
1965
Dr. Reuben Widmer of Winfield was elected Chief of Staff by the Medical Staff of Henry County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. WF Chrisinger of Winfield was seriously injured in a one-car accident near Muscatine.
1960
Jack Hawkins, owner of Hawkins Variety and Dry Goods stores in Wapello and Columbus Junction, has bought Oregon’s Dry Goods in Winfield and will take over management Jan. 3.
Junior Mullen of Mullen Used Auto Parts has purchased the building east of Buck Huston’s ‘66’ Service from Bill Haines. He is expected to use it to dismantle wrecked and junked cars.
1945
A.H. Huston of Olds had the best corn yield in Henry County’s 10-acre test plots, averaging 114.4 bushels an acre. Raymond Baker of Winfield was second with 109.2, F.E. Klopfenstein was third with 101.91.
