Besides a mouthwatering piece of pork loin, the meal includes sides and desserts. All proceeds will go to support the Scott Sodbusters 4-H Club.
Did you know that by supporting your local 4-H club you are helping to continue a program for youth that started nearly 123 years ago? The first 4-H club was started in 1902 in Clark County, Ohio by A.B. Graham. In 1924 Iowans became involved in 4-H.
The 4-H program was started to help young people in rural areas to become productive members of their community. Through the years the variety of programs has expanded to include interests of young people who are not into agriculture. These programs include but are not limited to robotics, coding, leadership and healthy living. New programs are continually being introduced to meet youth’s expanding knowledge and interests. Animal husbandry and other agriculture related programs also remain a substantial portion of 4-H programs.
In the 1960s, the method of organizing clubs into separate groups according to gender or race changed to combining them into a single integrated program. Today’s 4-H programs now serve youth in rural, urban and suburban communities in every state across the nation.
By supporting your local 4-H club, you are supporting our youth and helping maintain a program which offers many benefits for our young people and our community. It is a win-win for everyone one, a good meal for a good cause.
