MT. PLEASANT — As conversations continue around wind energy in Henry County, RWE Renewables is offering an opportunity to tour one of their wind farms Monday, March 4.
RWE Renewables, a company currently researching the possibility of placing a wind farm in the northern part of the county, repeatedly offered tours of wind farms to Henry County residents as they asked questions and raised concerns at various town hall and Board of Supervisors meetings.
Now, they are offering to transport up to 50 people to and from their Radford Run wind farm in Decatur, Illinois, Monday, March 4. The bus transporting interested people will depart the Henry County Court Hose at 8 a.m. and return around 6:30 p.m.
After a 3.5-hour bus ride to Decatur, Radford’s Run team will lead attendees on a tour of operations building, up to a wind turbine, and even inside the base of a turbine from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. RWE will provide lunch catered by Panera Bread during the excursion.
Those interested in touring a wind farm should visit henrycountyiowa.us and fill out the questionnaire located under public notices, even if they cannot attend March 4. The tour is first come first served, but the survey collections information from those interested but unable to attend, as well.
