Spring has sprung! Get out to enjoy the season and all our downtown has to explore. More than a dozen local vendors will offer games, food, and a little friendly competition for the family.
Festivities will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, on the north end of Main Street.
Local baking enthusiasts are encouraged to enter the pie contest. Follow the signs to the designated contest table to submit an entry by 10 a.m. Retired Columbus Community family and consumer science teacher Lois Minks will serve as the celebrity judge. Judging will begin at 10:30 a.m. A prize basket sponsored by Bard Station Coffee House and Columbus Discoveries Thrift Store will be awarded to the first place winner. For details, visit the Columbus Junction Spring Fling event on Facebook.
Fuel your fun with lunch from one of four local vendors. Bard Station Coffee House, El Mariachi, The Box Lunch Food Truck, and Take 2 Scene 2 Food Truck will offer a variety of food choices
that are sure to please.
Columbus Discoveries Thrift Store will host a cake walk benefiting the Louisa County Fairgrounds Horse Arena project at 11:30 a.m. Donations of baked goods can be taken to the thrift store by 9 a.m. Contact Chrissy Mathers for more details at (319) 471-7277.
More local vendors will offer their specialty products including snacks, gift items, and free family friendly activities.
The winner of the coloring contest will be announced at the Columbus Gazette office. Coloring pages and contest details can be found in the latest issue of the Columbus Gazette. Browse the entries hung in the windows of their office.
