WINFIELD — The Winfield Historical Society and Museum received a $5,000 grant from the Enhance Henry County Foundation on Dec. 12, 2023.
This is very good news as our next renovation project will be replacing the windows on the front of our new location at the former L.L. Elliott building located on the northeast block of Winfield business district. This grant money will go toward work slated to begin, weather permitting, early spring.
The building still needs a lot of work, and we are working on it as money and time allow. Most recently we replaced floor joists and beams in the back half of the building. We also replaced the front sidewalk this summer. We look forward to a new look, replacing both windows that are currently cracked with energy efficient ones.
We are outgrowing our current location and have plans for bigger and better displays. Additionally, this will enable us to better educated and preserve our local history.
The Winfield Historical Museum is open year-round, every Monday 10 a.m. — noon Stop in for a visit and say hello.
