On May 12 at approximately 7:32 p.m., the Winfield Police Department made a traffic stop on a 2001 Mercury Sable in the 1000 block of Oasis Avenue.
During the traffic stop, the driver fled in the vehicle attempting to elude law enforcement at a high rate of speed for several miles into parts of Louisa and Washington County before losing control and crashing the vehicle in Louisa County.
The driver, James Call, was immediately taken into custody. Call was found to have a valid arrest warrant for a parole violation. James was additionally charged with eluding, driving while suspended, providing false information, speeding, and possession of drug paraphernalia. No charges were filed on the passenger, Andi Huston of Winfield.
The Winfield Police Department was assisted in the incident by Louisa County Sheriff's Office, Columbus Junction Police Department, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Iowa State Patrol and Henry County Sheriff's Office
