WMU graduate now Air Force Honor Graduate
Isabel Kann graduates from BMT with high honors

SAN ANTONIO — Winfield-Mt. Union 2023 high school graduate completes Air Force Basic Military Training in as an Honor Graduate.
Airman Isabel C. Kann, from Swedesburg, graduated from WMU last May and enlisted in the Iowa Air National Guard.
Airman Isabel C. Kann graduated from Air Force Basic Military Training (BMT) on Oct. 27, at the Joint Base San Antonio Lackland Texas.
The Air Force BMT graduation commences after completing eight weeks of a rigorous training program to prepare enlisted Airmen for a career in the United States Air Force.
Kann was awarded the Honor Graduate Ribbon. Only the top 10% of graduating Airmen are eligible for Honor Graduate status; those selected to receive the award must achieve 90% or higher on all written exams, achieve Thunderbolt or Warhawk status on their fitness test, pass all inspections and receive a recommendation by their Military Training Instructor.
Kann reported to Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX on October 28, for technical training.
She will train as an Aerospace Maintenance Apprentice for C-135 Boeing Stratolifter refueling jets. After completion of technical training, Kann will serve the 185th Air Refueling Wing located in Sioux City.
The Air National Guard's federal mission is to maintain well-trained, well-equipped units available for prompt mobilization during war and aid during national emergencies.
While enlisted with the Iowa Air National Guard, Kann also plans to attend South Dakota State University, beginning Fall-2023, and participate in the Air Force ROTC program, as she continues to pursue a career in aviation or aerospace.
