WMU softball tops Pekin in slugfest

Winfield-Mt. Union and Pekin had quite the battle on Tuesday.
After three innings, the Panthers led 16-9. Both teams went scoreless through the fourth and Pekin added seven more runs in the top half of the fifth.
WMU answered back with a 10 run bottom of the fifth to make it 23-19.
Heading into the seventh, Pekin held a 27-20 lead.
The Wolves went on to score eight runs in the seventh to complete the comeback.
For WMU, Quin Smith led with six hits and seven RBIs. Keely Malone followed with five hits and eight RBIs.
Pekin was paced by Quinnlyn Baker, Myah Bainbridge and Anna Hadley all with four hits. Baker had four RBIs to lead.
