Please join the WACO Junior and Senior High Student Body as they team up with local nonprofit, On His Path, to package food for Kids Against Hunger. This event will take place Friday, March 8 from 1:00 — 4 p.m.
Sanaria Abu Srour, WACO foreign exchange student from Bethlehem, visited Mrs. Davison’s 5th grade social studies class last week. Students enjoyed listening to Sanaria telling about her country and customs.
On To State! WACO’s Cey Saeugling placed second at 160 pounds, pinning Iowa Valley’s Dillon Fryin 3:08 on Saturday, February 9. This qualifies Saeugling for the state wrestling tournament.

The Wayland United Methodist Women met Feb. 12 with seven members and one guest present. Geneva Fort served as hostess to the noon meal. The lesson, “Cut Wood, Carry Water, The Struggle of Human Rights” was given by Mary Rich. President Marge Davison opened the meeting.
Donald and Dorothy Davison observed their 45th wedding anniversary Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998. They were joined for services at the Wayland Mennonite Church by Dorothy’s mother, Virginia Schnicker and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Curt Mineart, Washington, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davison, Donnellson.
The seventh-ranked WACO boys’ basketball team dealt Maharishi a 95 — 53 SEI Superconference West Division setback Tuesday. WACO improves to 14 — 1 overall and 10 — 0 in the division.
50 YEARS AGO — FEBRUARY 8, 1973
Wendell Davison, a junior at WACO High School, was chosen to play trumpet this Saturday and Sunday in the Iowa Honor Band. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Davison of Wayland. Wendell is the first WACO student ever chosen to play in this group which is picked entirely on the director’s recommendation.

Jim Freyenberger and Bob Hauenstein combined for 57 points to help pace the WACO Warriors to a 90 — 68 victory over West Burlington there Friday night in Blackhawk Conference play. Freyenberger netted 31 points and hauled down a game high 17 rebounds while Hauenstein pitched in 26 points.

Mrs. E.N. Smith of Wayland has returned from a 10 day visit in Mt Morris, Ill called by the illness of a niece after a critical operation in Dixon, Ill
Plans are being made for a fox hunt east of Wayland in the Olds vicinity Saturday. All interested in going on the hunt are asked to meet at Olds at 10:00 o’clock Saturday morning, and furnish their own lunch. No rifles will be permitted on the hunt.
The Wayland High School basketball team won its third straight Henry County championship Saturday in the Wayland gymnasium by defeating New London, 42 — 38. The defending champions had to go to the limit to edge the team that on Friday night had eliminated the Winfield boys.

Basketball double header, Wayland High Scholl Boys and Girls vs New London, will be held at the Opera House on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 o’clock. New London is coming here undefeated with a long string of victories. The Athletic Association would appreciate a full house on this occasion. Music by the High School Orchestra.
