2015
Two tornadoes touched down within a half-hour of each other in different parts of the county. Turkey sheds were destroyed on a farm on the Henry-Washington County line Sunday evening, June 21, 2015. The tornado was 75 yards wide and on the ground for one and a half miles before lifting back up in the clouds at 7:08 p.m. Then minutes later, the second tornado struck between Mt. Pleasant and New London.

Three WACO high school graduates, who have been together since preschool, recently graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly together. Lauren Miller, Travis Temple, and Deidre Freyenberger, have been in school together since they were classmates at Kiddie Cottage in Wayland.
Katy Garrett of Wayland has been named to the Dean’s List at AIB College of Business for the 2010 spring term.

Paul Klopfenstein, DMV, of Crawfordsville, has purchased the Wayland Veterinary Clinic from Dr. Mark Leichty.
Dale A. Nebel, age 89, of Wayland died June 15 at the Henry County Health Center.

Brooke Terese Kliewer and John Paul Engbrecht are to be married August 5.
Dawn McAllister was named outstanding accounting undergraduate at Coe College.

Volunteers helped place lights at the WACO baseball field in Wayland.
Local businessman and farmer Gale Boshart died June 15 of injuries received when the agricultural sprayer he was driving overturned.

Mark and Deanna Duggar are the parents of a baby boy, Keith Richard, born May 26.
1985
Willard R. Leichty was ordained to the ministry at Sugar Creek on June 9.
Ronald and Shelly Peterson are the parents of Sara Ann, born June 15 at Burlington.
Rick and Lynn Reighard are the parents of Anthony Ryan, born June 15.
