Marion and Marlene (Yoder) Leichty of Wayland celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

The sheriff’s office is investigating a hit-and-run accident half a mile west of Wayland on Hwy. 78. The subject was taken by ambulance to HCHC.
Keith and Ellyn Hildebrand of Wayland are the parents of a son. Koyl Willis was born June 25 at Mercy Hospital.

There was a two-vehicle accident southwest of Wayland. A car driven by Howard Erdman struck a southbound pickup operated by Urban J. Roth. Passengers in the Erdman vehicle, Jenny Van DeWalker and Jessica Ann Van DeWalker reported head injuries, as did Erdman.
Glen and Melody (Unternahrer) Winkler are the parents of Melissa Marie, born June 24.

Mrs. Earl (Ina Mae Walker) Lowe, age 45, died July 17 at Henry County Hospital.
Harold Weber of Winfield has opened Weber’s Dept. Store in the Lyle Zehr building on the south side of Main Street. He also owns a similar store in Winfield.

Corn was selling at 45 cents per bushel, oats at 16 to 18 cents, wheat at 50 cents, butter was 40 cents a pound, eggs 10 cents a dozen, potatoes 75 cents per bushel, and hogs were $4.50 per cwt.
